Summary/Abstract: From the perspective of the dominant economic theory, as long as economic growth brings more benefits than costs expressed in monetary units, such growth should be supported. On the other hand, this theoretical approach ignored not only the natural environment's limited capacities but also anomalies in economic growth that lead to increased inequality in the distribution of income and wealth, as well as poverty. The topic of this study is the definition of sustainable development, which aims to encompass the economic, social, and ecological dimension of human activities as well as problems in the implementation of sustainable development policies at the supranational, national, and local level.
