Summary/Abstract: The work on the critical edition of muster rolls of the crown army from the time of the Obertyn campaign of 1531 necessitated making new arrangements relevant to organisation of the Polish army, especially in its regimentation and battle order. The analysis of the dating records leads to surprising conclusions. The army of Jan Tarnowski was formed on 19th July, but the last sub-units did not join until the 31st of August, that is nine days after the Battle of Obertyn. That indicates not only the lesser strength of Polish army in the Battle of Obertyn, but also demonstrates the not dysfunctional defensive structure of the south-eastern frontier of the Kingdom of Poland.
