Summary/Abstract: During the early republican period in Türkiye, the nation's schools played a crucial role in promoting social development and ensuring social justice. These schools elevated literacy rates in villages and contributed to the education of a conscious workforce by expanding educational opportunities in rural areas. Furthermore, teachers in the nation’s schools played a significant role in comprehending and resolving social issues in villages, contributing to the advancement of social work. Community development is a multifaceted and interdisciplinary approach aimed at fostering positive change within communities. Social work provides a diverse range of strategies and tools to ensure the sustainability of community development and promote fair, equitable, and sustainable societal growth. Nation’s schools, which played a pivotal role in Türkiye's modernization, exemplify a strong connection between education, community development, and social work. As one of the educational projects implemented during the Early Republican Era, these national schools serve as an important model for social development. The nation’s schools had a profound influence, not just in the realm of education, but also on social change, transformation, community development and social work.
