Summary/Abstract: Turkish art has diverse origins, including Central Asian steppes, Anatolia, and the Balkans. Ottoman influences can be seen in Balkan nations like Macedonia, notably in Skopje's architecture and handicrafts. Following the Ottoman conquest of the Balkans, Anatolia's culture and art migrated to the region. Due to this culture-art migration, traces of Ottoman art have been observed in North Macedonia. These remnants may still be seen today at the Skopje Turkish Bazaar, one of North Macedonia's most significant symbols. Skopje's Turkish bazaar preserves Turkish handicrafts, showcasing products reflecting both Turkish and Balkan cultures. A field study in May 2022 explored Turkish art remnants in North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. Research conducted in the Skopje bazaar focused on socks and weavings similar to Turkish culture. The fieldwork documented and examined collector Hamza Murat's knitted sock collection. In this study, hand-knitted stockings with animal figures, which are a part of the folklore of North Macedonia; analyzed in terms of pattern, color, composition, raw material and technical properties, and cataloged by supporting with literature information.
