Summary/Abstract: Historiography is defined as the work of making historical studies. The issue of historiography, which is among the subjects of the philosophy of history, and whether history is a science or not is still a controversial issue. The first thing to consider about history is historiography. In the West, the subject of historiography traditionally belongs to Ancient Greece with Herodotus and Thucydides; It goes back to the Roman Empire with Livy, Tacitus and Plutarch. In the Islamic tradition, historiography began mostly in the form of biographical studies. In this research, an examination of historiography was made through the theses prepared within the scope of postgraduate education in higher education institutions. The study was handled by document review and scanning method. The limits of the study are the completed master's and doctoral theses, which were obtained during the survey conducted in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education and which deal with the subject of historiography. The first study on the subject was carried out in 1996 and the last study in 2019. In the National Thesis Center, 19 theses related to historiography were examined between these dates. However, it was determined that some of the theses before 2006 were not uploaded to the system because the Council of Higher Education did not impose an obligation to upload graduate theses to the system. These theses were obtained from TUBES and included in the review. The problem addressed in the study is whether the purpose or problem situation mentioned in the postgraduate theses on historiography can be reached in the conclusion part and whether there are references to the postgraduate studies on the subject before it. With this, it is to reach the conclusion that how far the postgraduate theses can reach their purpose and how much they affect the next studies.
