On Some Rare Names in the Bulgarian Naming System

Summary/Abstract: The article is about some rare names whose origin and meaning are fairly unfamiliar to the non-specialists. Information about the etymology of the names is provided. The questionnaire that was given to the bearers of those names studies the attitudes of the respondents and the attitudes of the people they interact with towards the names. A question about the possible inconvenience that those fairly unfamiliar names may cause to their bearers is also included. In most cases the respondents were named after a relative but instead of the traditional or familiar name of the relative the child was given a rare name.
