SUPERVISORY ROLES OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to examine the supervisory roles of school administrators and the effects of these roles on school culture and climate. Within the framework of this general purpose, school management is considered as a social system and it is aimed to reveal possible developments in schools by using management processes effectively. In addition, the place of school administrators in the social memory and the importance of this memory in realizing the goals of the school were emphasized. While the concept of supervision was discussed in the context of school management, the roles of administrators in providing educational supervision were emphasized and the effects of these roles on school culture were examined. The results of the study were evaluated as a result of a detailed review of the literature. As a result of this evaluation, it was revealed that school administrators have a number of important roles. These roles include educational leader, community leader, visionary, organizational manager, mentor, coach, consultant, disciplinary expert, safety expert, economist, facilitator and inspirer. It was concluded that these factors are the requirements for being a good school administrator. This study aims to contribute to school and student success by examining the effects of school administrators' supervisory and leadership roles on school culture and climate.
