Summary/Abstract: Fairy tales are a literary genre that appeals especially to children's imagination and continues to exist effectively among the public. Fairy tales, which contribute to the development of children's language skills, also have an important place in the transfer of moral values. In order to lay the groundwork for all these developments and to enable students to build their lives on stronger foundations, the existence of root values is encountered in the curriculum. Root values are included in the 2019 Turkish Curriculum: "being fair, giving importance to family unity, independence, peace, scientificness, diligence, solidarity, sensitivity, honesty, aesthetics, tolerance, hospitality, freedom, giving importance to being healthy, respect, love, responsibility, cleanliness, patriotism and helpfulness”. While the transfer of root values can be achieved by teachers' verbal guidance to their students, literary genres can also be shown as auxiliary resources in this regard. Fairy tales, in particular, appear as a literary genre that can be used in the context of teaching root values, as they are a genre that young students are interested in. Ignac Kúnos, a Turcologist of Hungarian origin, traveled around various provinces of Anatolia and compiled Turkish tales and compiled them into a work. Ignac Kúnos, who has extensive research in the field of Turcology and is well known in this field, has contributed to the scientific world with more than 400 works. The aim of this research is to determine the level of root value transfer in Turkish fairy tales compiled by Ignac Kúnos and used in teaching Turkish. In this research, document review method, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used as a method. As a result of the research, Turkish fairy tales compiled by Ignac Kúnos heavily included the root values of helpfulness, responsibility and solidarity, but the values of "fairness, independence, peace, scientificity, aesthetics, tolerance, freedom and patriotism" were not found, and they did not carry sufficient root values. and contrary to this situation, it was found to have violent elements.
