THE PRIVATE MILITARY COMPANIES AND PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES

Summary/Abstract: In this study, the increasing role of private security and private military security companies with globalization and the changing security environment and the problems this creates in terms of international law and ethics are discussed. The definitions, reasons, advantages and disadvantages of private security and private military security companies are explained, and various initiatives at international and national levels to regulate and supervise the activities of these companies are mentioned. He emphasizes that while the use of private security and private military security companies can increase the security capacity of states, it can also lead to ethical problems such as human rights violations, lack of accountability, weakening of state authority, and prolongation or intensification of armed conflicts.
