Summary/Abstract: For centuries, the land of Persia has been inhabited by Iranians, a huge percentage of whom are Muslim. Islam has guided their spiritual, moral, political and social life. This was the case until the 1960s. Anti-natalist ideas changed the social order. The social acceptance of contraception and abortion made a huge change in the mentality of Iranians, and to uncontrolled depopulation. In fifteen years (1985-2000), fertility rates declined threefold. In 1985, there were more than six children per woman of childbearing age, but by 2000 there were just over two. The contraceptive mentality has killed the spiritual sensitivity of Iranian women, who are unable to pass on a living faith in God to their children.
