Summary/Abstract: In this study, aimed at collecting the narrow-breath songs sung in the village of Arslanbeyli in the province of Eskişehir, and determining their place and significance within Alevi culture; the village of Arslanbeyli in Eskişehir, which is predominantly inhabited by Alevi people, has been chosen as the field of study. The study was conducted based on field research using observation and interview techniques. Two examples of narrow-breath songs, titled “Geldi vedalaştı bir zülfü siyah” and “Fırsat elde iken bir amel kazan” were identified in the village of Arslanbeyli. It was determined that the narrow-breath song "Geldi vedalaştı bir zülfü siyah" has a story that has been passed down to the present day and believed by the village residents. These songs were analyzed and transcribed musically and literarily. It was determined that the lyrics of the collected narrow-breath songs describe death and are sung during “dardan indirme” ceremonies. The importance of this study increases due to the collection of Alevi songs as a cultural identity, their transmission to future generations, preservation, and continuation of the tradition.
