Summary/Abstract: Tomas Hylland Eriksen is Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo and former President of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA). He is the author of numerous classics of anthropology including “Small Places, Large Issues” (5th ed. 2023), “Ethnicity and Nationalism” (3rd ed. 2010), “A History of Anthropology” (2nd ed. 2010), and “What is Anthropology?” (2nd ed. 2017), which have become standard references in anthropology, transcending linguistic and cultural boundaries.
