Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to highlight the way in which we can develop the ability to produce a written message in A1 level in Romanian as Foreign Language/Non-Native Language courses. Our paper analyses the differences between writing in L1 (mother tongue)and L2(target language), explores the cognitive processes involved in the acquisition of Romanian and outlines some milestones in the construction of a teaching scenario based on the descriptive text. An important aspect that we have emphasized in our argumentation is the need for phasing and organizing thinking and activating prior knowledge involved in the writing process. Although the production of the written message is one of the most difficult communicative activities (at least at the beginner level), it can be taught through a series of tools and techniques available to learners and teachers; thus, we wanted the present article to come as a support or model for understanding writing as a process.
