Summary/Abstract: We currently live in a world where communicating has become easier thanks to technology but also thanks to the almost exclusive use of English in the personal context(tourism, for example), but also in the professional context. Given this hegemony of English, what future for French and its study? More precisely, what future for scientific and technical French? Why still study French as a student at a Romanian technical university? How to motivate learners? Is the French language still important in global scientific and technical communication? Direct communication barriers are easily overcome if we use English, but is the message intact and correctly transmitted/received? These are some questions that we will try to answer in this article while relying on personal experience as well as on documents written by various French and Francophone researchers and institutions.
