Summary/Abstract: This article examines the financing of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria through illicit trade of antiquities. The paper focuses on destruction and looting of world cultural heritage sites in Iraq and Syria, trade mechanism of stolen artefacts, main routes of illicit trafficking of cultural property.
