Summary/Abstract: This article deals with five longer prose works of the German-language author of Austrian origin,Melitta Breznik (b. 1961). It aims to situate the texts in the context of specifically selected current theoretical concepts on autobiographical and autofictional writing and to point out their specific features through a differentiated approach. The study will illustrate some possibilities of narrative self-design, based on this contemporary author, psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
