Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper and the conducted investigation was to describe the current educational options, educational reality of children and primary school pupils with type 1 diabetes mellitus from the perspective of legal representatives. The paper also intended to identify possible problematic issues that occur within the educational process of children and pupils with type 1 diabetes mellitus in kindergartens and primary schools in the Czech Republic. The education of children with this serious chronic disease brings numerous constraints and demands, especially for changes in the organisation of teaching; and the issues of responsibility for blood sugar monitoring and insulin administration, the attitude of school facilities to the admission of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus, the perception of cooperation with school counselling facilities, and the overall perception of the conditions of education of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus appear to be crucial. This quantitative study presents data obtained through an electronic online questionnaire distributed to legal representatives of children in the target group through a direct link, which parents were informed about by registered associations of parents of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus.Based on the results, it can be concluded that the conditions for education and enrolment of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus in the Czech Republic show a number of variability inparents‘ experiences, inseveralareas. Specificallyintermsofaccesstoschooladmissions, use of support measures in the form of counselling services or personal support, while the variability in the experiences of legal representatives is highly polar. There may also be risks for both educators and the children being educated. Understanding these specifics and raising awareness can help to unify the system and approach in education and thus eliminate potential discriminatory risks.
