Summary/Abstract: When working with pupils in the classroom, the teacher must think of the whole character of the class. Pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds have various difficulties affecting their academic success. The role of teachers is very important in reducing the problems. Visual literacy is essential in today‘s visually oriented society where images and visual media play a key role in communication, education, marketing and various industries. By increasing visual literacy, a person is better able to navigate the largeamount of visual information he or she encounters. Our aim was to carry out image analysis and interpretation by six primary school pupils, three of whom were from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, and to compare their results with each other and suggest possible solutions.
