REVIEW OF JOHNSON TSANG'S WORKS: THE EXAMPLE OF IN ME

Summary/Abstract: Hong Kong-born Johnson Tsang is a ceramics and sculptor artist known for his realistic works often accompanied by a surrealist imagination. The artist's ceramic works include human faces carved into water, melting figures, splashing water and dragon figures. The artist adds a new dimension to the concept of reality by using an unusual imagination in his ceramic works. When looking at Johnson Tsang's ceramic works, it is possible to see the ideas that the artist wants to express in the themes he uses, as well as his perspective on social events through his eyes. Apart from social events, another factor that affected the artist's ceramic works was the dreams he had while sleeping. The subject of dreams has deeply affected art, artists and many movements. The artist has transformed subconscious events, objects and situations into three-dimensional forms, based on his own personal adventure. The artist, who prefers white porcelain clay in his ceramic works, tries to establish a relationship between an inanimate object and a human figure in his ceramic sculptures. In some ceramic works, he uses metal materials such as stainless steel in addition to ceramics. The artist attracts the attention of the audience by transforming the fluid structure of liquids into solid forms that we cannot imagine. Especially when we look at the facial expressions he works with, the reality you see is astounding. His concept-laden works are reflected by the facial expressions of the child figure, the symbol of purity and innocence. In this article, the artist's ceramic work titled "In Me" was analyzed and an attempt was made to investigate the artist's working technique and expression through the work.
