THE ROLE OF POETRY IN POST-THEATRE OF MILENA MARKOVIĆ

Summary/Abstract: The first part of this paper is a theoretical account of postmodern theatre and of the term “postdramatic.” Along with a literary-historical review of modern theatre and its aspects that influenced contemporary drama, special emphasis is given to a monologue. The second part analyses Milena Marković’s dramatic texts from cultural, philosophical and linguistic perspective. In the end, themes and composition of dialogues and monologues are viewed against playwright’s poetic pieces, and syncretism of genres is acknowledged.
