The Republican Road Infrastructure In Bulgaria – Specifics And Regional Differences

Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the specifics and regional differences of the national road network in Bulgaria. The strategic geographical location of the country and the process of approaching European transport standards after Bulgaria's accession to the European Union have their impact on the quality and quantity of roads in the country. The study is based on an analysis of the regional profile of the transport network, based on data measuring the condition of the national road network in relation to the "road class" and the "type of road surface". The main conclusion of the study is that there are regional differences between the quality and quantity of the currently built road network. Based on this, the transport infrastructure in Bulgaria can be divided into the improved Southern Bulgaria and the developing Northern Bulgaria.
