Summary/Abstract: The Balkan Peninsula is one of the most neuralgic and explosive points in the world. In a broader spatial sense, the term Southeast Europe is often used, including Cyprus, Turkey, Moldova, Romania, and sometimes Hungary. The Balkans, due to their location, have been a place of conflict for the interests of the great powers - Germany, Russia, Britain, and the United States. In geopolitics, it is defined as the Balkan geopolitical node, in which there are still several conflict zones. The development of tourism in each country can be considered in the context of the impact of ongoing geopolitical processes in the region. The purpose of this study is to show the place of the region on the geopolitical map of the world, summarizing and synthesizing the opinion of some authors who have addressed these issues and on this basis to show the impact of geopolitical situation in the region on the development of various industries and in particular, international tourism.
