Summary/Abstract: The text examines the reception of the short story collection “Even in Heaven Someone bluffs”, an anthology of fourteen contemporary Greek stories that have won the national State Literary Prize. It displays the views of different generations of writers, which form a collective image of the present look of the country. In the reception are given details of other authors’ published translations and analysis on the overall interpretation of the collection. Two translations of the short story “Maria” are compared and are given examples of the peculiar transmission from the original text, as well as different translation approaches.
