Summary/Abstract: The research presented in the paper focuses on the words of foreign origin in the oral discourse of Vojvodinian Slovaks. Every language increases its lexical fund not only through word formation but also through the adoption of words from other languages. The Slovak language has been using the common Old Greek and Latin lexical fund for decades. In the same manner, French words have become part of the Slovak language and lately the English language has been a rich source. The frequency of foreign words depends on the level of education of communication participants. Our research has shown that the Serbian language also exerts a significant influence on the oral discourse of Vojvodinian Slovaks. Some communication participants were noted to have a dialect of the Central Slovak type.
