Summary/Abstract: Periods of crisis have deeply impacted individuals throughout history, often seen as problems requiring solutions. Rain prayer, a ritual during times of crisis, is one such example. Across various religious traditions, water has been revered through blessings found in holy texts or unwritten beliefs like Shamanism. As the source of life in nature, rain is essential for abundance, fertility, and the revival of life. Throughout history, diverse ceremonies have been performed to invoke rainfall during crisis periods. While these rituals have evolved across societies, limited research explores their functional changes. This study examines the rain prayer ritual in Edirne, Tekirdağ, and Kırklareli provinces, encompassing the Thrace Region. Qualitative methods explore the ritual's form, while quantitative data determine its purpose and potential functional shifts. Through survey methodology, 167 cooperative participants were reached. The research reveals that while the rain prayer ritual undergoes functional changes, it will continue to be practiced by future generations of its practitioners.
