Reinke’s Edema – Possibility of Speech Therapy (a Case Study)

Summary/Abstract: The article describes the case of a patient diagnosed with Reinke’s edema. Referring to the medical literature, the author characterises Reinke’s edema and discusses its etiology and epidemiology. The role of factors particularly conducive to its development was emphasised. Typical features of the voice of patients affected by edema are indicated. The case of a 56‑year‑old patient with Reinke’s edema was described in the context of the cited data. The research paper presents an exemplary speech therapy program and compares the results of the initial tests and the results of the tests after 9 weeks of rehabilitation, in order to assess the effectiveness of the implemented procedure.
