Summary/Abstract: The woman, who is considered to be one of the most significant and transformative elements of society, has been accepted as the basic element in contemporary Kyrgyz Literature pertaining to the formation of Soviet society. This study aims to bring out the evolution and social transformation of the Kyrgyz woman’s during the Soviet period through literary works. In this respect, ten literary works, that highlight the issue of women and were written during the Soviet Union (1924- 1989) were analyzed such as Sıdık Karaçev’s “Erik Tañında”, Kasım Tınıstanov’s “Maryam menen Köl Boyunda”, Tügölbay Sidıkbekov’s “Batıyna”, Kasımalı Cantöşev’s “Menin Tagdırım”, Nasirdin Baytemirov’s “Caş Cüröktör”, “Santa”, Cunay Mavlyanov’s “Turmuş”, Zuura Sooronbayeva’s “Çooçun Kişi”, Sagındık Ömürbayev’s “Zarılbübü” and Aytkulu Ubukeyev’s “Kız Cigit”. In the study, in which content analysis was used, the evolutionary process of the Kyrgyz woman was scrutinized through the woman’s changing social and socio-economic position before and after the revolution. The study is thought to contribute to the sociology of literature in the sense that it presents the chronological change of woman’s social status in Kyrgyzstan during the Soviet Union. Findings from the content analysis suggest that due to the changes in the political and social structure, over time, a limit in reproducing the human was determined and this situation led to the development of a particular type of female and behaviour patterns related to this in the collective memory of Kyrgyzstan.
