Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the potential of sound recordings as cultural heritage and as a basis for the active contemporary use of heritage in film and music production. The potential of this particular type of cultural property will be interpreted through the case study of the Radio Belgrade archive as a body of heritage, with specific focus on two projects – the production of the award-winning animated series Radiovision and the residential program hosted by the Electronic Studio of Radio Belgrade. Based on these two examples, this paper examines both the possibilities and ethical aspects of using cultural heritage for the purposes of producing for-profit content, as the basic characteristic of cultural industries.
