Summary/Abstract: The book, as one of the oldest forms of the written word, is at a turning point that is likely to play a major role in the further development of humanity. We are witnessing the transition of the book into an immaterial form and the transformation of the book. However, centuries and centuries have passed in which the book developed and evolved, so that today its physical and material form has slowly turned into an intangible one. The paper shows the development and evolution of the book from its origin to its metamorphosis into a completely different dimension.
