Summary/Abstract: Energy has always been one of the main drivers of economic development in all countries. Energy needs are continuously rising, as are the needs and demands for environmentally sustainable solutions. The green energy transition is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century, given that it should be implemented in a way that respects the basic principles of sustainable development. It is not easy to reconcile the demands of economic development, environmental protection and the achievement of intergenerational and intragenerational justice. Adding to this the current global events that have a strong impact on even the most stable economies in Europe and worldwide, it becomes clear that the energy transition will have to adapt to new circumstances as well.
