Summary/Abstract: For centuries, not only the Christians but also the Muslims carried the burden of the Ottoman feudal system. Set under similar conditions, doomed to the same suffering under the oppression of the Ottoman feudal lords, these peoples led a centuries-long and heroic struggle against the regime, which found expression in various forms and manifestations. The problems of this resistance of the two peoples in the 15th – 19th centuries constituted a significant part in the historiography of these peoples. But the attention of the researchers has invariably focused more on the striking manifestations of the armed struggle. However, comparatively less studied are the varied, but incessant, almost daily manifestations of intransigence against the Ottoman feudal regime, starting with the poor people’s attempts to escape from their feudal duties, from their real disobedience to feudal lords and officials to the spontaneous armed resistance and rebellious attempts. The memoir presents the plight and struggles of the Christian and Muslim population in north-eastern Bulgaria against the Ottoman feudal system from the beginning of the 15th to the middle of the 19th century.
