Summary/Abstract: During the Second Balkan (Inter-Allied) War, the surroundings of the town of Doiran became the scene of a little-known heroic clash between Bulgarian troops and Greek units, the latter outnumbering the former many times. Third Brigade, which was defending this section of the front, was under Colonel Konstantin Kavarnaliev’s commands. By relying both upon a Serbian topographical map of the Dojran lake and eyewitness memories, the author provides additional information about the wounding and death of Colonel Kavarnaliev, rejecting some of the most popular versions and claims about the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
