Summary/Abstract: The present paper explores the concept of powerful knowledge in the context of History teaching in Romania. While the concept has gained (again) a new significance, its relation with the practicalities of teaching are a matter of debate. The concept of powerful knowledge – when paired with more practice-oriented elements(such as Seixas' first and second-order concepts in History teaching) can be useful interms of rethinking curriculum planning, an to reorient teaching towards more relevant elements of content.
