Summary/Abstract: In 1649, facing the attack of the joint forces of the Cossack hetman Bohdan Chmielnicki and the khan İslâm III Giray on Zbarazh, the fortress of prince Jeremi Wiśniowiecki, the king, with the parliament’s consent, decided to organize a mass levy expedition. Appropriate universals were sent out to all land sejmiks to make them begin preparations for the expedition. In July the documents reached the voivodeships of the Greater Poland: the Poznan and Kalisz voivodeships. An appropriate document was also issued by the Poznan voivode Krzysztof Opaliński, who summoned the gentry for the mass levy. He set the date of the general display near Poznań on 25–29 August 1649. Nobles from the voivodeship districts came to the display. Presented registers concern the composition of the two groups from the district of Poznań. Unfortunately, the expedition never managed to leave the territory of the Greater Poland voivodeships due to sluggish organization. While the preparations were in progress in the voivodeships, the king concluded a truce that ended military activities. It was announced by an appropriate universal, which stopped the expedition of mass levy.
