Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of analyzing the syntactic features in use of complex mixed sentences. The purpose of the research is to compare the quantity of subordinate clauses in texts by two Bulgarian writers – Yordan Yovkov and Elin Pelin. The corpus of analyzed texts includes 30 complex mixed sentences from 3 short stories by Yovkov – “Albena“, “Shibil“, “Bojura“ and 30 complex mixed sentences from 3 short stories by Elin Pelin – “Andreshko“, “The Windmill“, “A soup from the sins of Father Nicodemus“.
