Summary/Abstract: The article presents the analysis of M. E. Andriolli‘s works. M. E. Andriolli is one of the most famous Lithuanian and Polish artists of the 19th century. The analysis focuses on his compositions depicting episodes of Lithuanian history. The circumstances of the appearance of these works are explained, their iconography, content meanings, execution techniques are explored, and the reasons for their popularity and dissemination in Lithuania are sought. The research shows that the majority of his works on the subject of Lithuanian history were created by drawing on paper or directly on cliché and were reproduced in the old press. Only a few works on this subject were painted. The popularity of the artist's historical works in Lithuania was due not only because of his easily recognisable and easily understandable subjects, his impressive and professional technique of execution, but also because of the active dissemination of his works during the interwar period, which is evaluated ambiguously.
