Blockchain Technology and the Creation of New Cultural Meanings in the Digital Universe

Summary/Abstract: The latest communication technologies assign a (more) active role to objects in the current framework of an interconnected and interdependent world. The Internet of Things and blockchain technology are causing paradigm shifts that are transforming the way the environment is represented in everyday activities. The increasingly specialized digitization abstracts the surrounding space, recomposing it in the virtual world. Some ordinary objects, with which we interact in a certain way, have their importance amplified in augmented reality; moreover, new objects appear, exclusively digital, designed to complete the new virtual landscape. From a cultural point of view, digitization gives the world new meaning and greater depth.
