Summary/Abstract: This article offers an overview of my current PhD research into translation problems in the context of localization form English to Bulgarian. An initial typology of relevant translation problems is proposed based on existing research in the field. The typology consists of three main groups of localization-related translation problems, related to genre-based conventions, superstructural limitations and insufficient context. The aim of the study is to expand, update and elaborate this typology to represent the reality of the English-Bulgarian language pair and offer a framework of potential strategies to overcome the relevant translation problems. This will be achieved by analysing existent translation shortcomings in live digital products localized from English to Bulgarian, accounting for both technological and linguistic factors that have potentially led to them.
