Summary/Abstract: This article presents a comprehensive discussion of issues related to laryngeal cancer, one of the most common malignancies of the head and neck region. The author discusses the role of genetic, environmental, and harmful lifestyle factors in the development of this disease. Treatment methods for laryngeal cancer, both surgical and non‑surgical, are presented. Special attention was paid to the procedure of total laryngectomy. The following part of the article discusses the possibilities of verbal and non‑verbal communication and describes non‑verbal communication of patients after surgical removal of the larynx, as well as the research procedure and a case study of a patient after total laryngectomy.
