Summary/Abstract: The study presents the definitions of a crisis and a crisis situation that relate to a wide range of topics, followed by the definition of floods and characteristics of their types. Then it presents the stages of preventing and counteracting floods. Against this background, the text examines the effects of a flood in the Płock poviat. The article presents: research assumptions, research method and technique, characteristics of the group and selected research results. The article contains some conclusions from own research on floods. Finally, it lists possible ways of supporting and helping those affected by floods.
