Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to argue that adapting a foreign language teaching methodology for Kashubian education may improve the chances of survival of Kashubian in a globalised world. For one thing, this methodology may be applied to teaching Kashubians, since the intergenerational transmission of Kashubian dialects has been interrupted; for another, coursebooks and resources prepared for teaching Kashubian as a foreign language might be of benefit to foreigners interested in learning this vernacular. Incorporating an international perspective into Kashubian education may also contribute to increasing the prestige of the local ethnolect and to opening up the peripheral Kashubian to the global reality.
