Summary/Abstract: The article is an analysis of the principles of humanism and humanitarianism in criminal law. Both principles are reflected in many detailed statutory regulations, especially in substantive and executive criminal law. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the content of these principles, their function and practical significance at the stage of lawmaking and application. The main conclusion of the author is the postulate that these principles should be used primarily as a conflict directive, allowing to resolve a possible conflict of norms in accordance with the principle of in dubio pro humanitate.
