Summary/Abstract: Ensuring accessibility is currently one of the challenges for local governments in Poland. Although accessibility requirements were not completely unknown to Polish legislation, significant new obligations have been imposed in 2019, the fulfilment of which is to constitute the implementation of EU law and international obligations. The aim of this article is to show the obligations. The research uses methods appropriate for legal sciences: dogmatic-legal and theoretical-legal. The research work makes it possible to conclude that local self-government units are an appropriate area for the implementation of accessibility in Poland. The legislator, in formulating the minimum requirements, prescribes the provision of accessibility in the architectural, digital and information and communication spheres. Local government units should consider, especially in the latter two spheres, going beyond the minimum requirements, which may contribute to making a given local government unit more attractive.
