Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to present the importance of gender studies in comparative education and the role of female scientists in its development. The first part of the text is devoted to the phenomenon of the gradually increasing comparative interest in the issue of gender, both in the research and teaching contexts. Then two basic theoretical approaches to the analysis of gender in comparative education are presented, in the context of the issue of inequality: direct gender inequality and structural inequality (gender, class, race). Both of the approaches are illustrated with examples of research and publications. In the second part of the text, an attempt is made to present the role of women as researchers in the development and organisation of comparative education, with regard to scientific work and holding positions in international associations of comparative education. The article is intended as a contribution to understanding the phenomenon of expanding the problem field of comparative education.
