Summary/Abstract: The present paper offers insight into the content of the interrogation records from the 1958 criminal investigation of the Burning Bush group of clergy and intellectuals. Most of these intellectuals and clerics were arrested in June 1958, after several years of informative surveillance by the Securitate, and underwent a long investigation throughout the summer of 1958. Their trial took place in October and November, and their prison sentence was finally received in November. Most of them served political detention until 1963 or 1964, with leader hieroschemamonk Daniil dying in prison and writer Vasile Voiculescu soon after finishing his sentence. The following research explores the interrogation documents created by the Securitate during the investigation from the summer 1958, establishing a chronology of the investigation, while discussing the existent narratives and the Securitate’s attempt of generating a coherent discourse on the group’s culpability.
