Summary/Abstract: This article presents the way in which the event of 1922 was reflected in the German language press of Sighișoara, namely the coronation of the kings of Greater Romania in Alba Iulia. From this short presentation of the events surrounding the coronation of the kings of Greater Romania, one can observe the care with which the editor of the newspaper informs the public in Sighișoara about the unfolding of the events in Alba Iulia, Bucharest and Sighișoara. The attitude of the newspaper is favourable to the event. The Saxon population of Sighișoara was confident about the auspices under which the new Romanian state would function after the Great Union of 1918. Everywhere in the reports, there is an emphasis on the participation of the representatives of the Transylvanian Saxons headed by the Evangelical bishop Friedrich Teutsch, the Saxon deputies in the Parliament and ending with the people of the Transylvanian cities and villages. In Sighișoara, the press chronicles describe how the Germans of the city participated in the manifestations, but also the deficiencies in the organisation, such as the superficial involvement of the owner of the Steaua Hotel in the organisation of the banquet and the excess of zeal of the volunteer firefighters at the Sighișoara railway station on the occasion of the arrival of the royal train. Last but not least, the article reveals the loyalty of the Sighișoara Saxons towards the new state and its sovereigns and the hope that the rights and freedoms of the Transylvanian Saxons will be respected in the future.
