Summary/Abstract: With the rise of the digital world, exacerbated by the pandemic, young users are facing several new, previously unknown problems. The emergence of infringements in the digital space, including those affecting minors, and of content harmful to minors’ development, has prompted a rapid and effective response, which has demanded the creation of hotlines to fight for content removal. The aim of this study is to describe the current the operation and practices of the Internet Hotline information and help service operated by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority of Hungary. It outlines the establishment of hotlines around the world and the history, the legal environment, the framework and the general operation of Internet Hotline. It also provides an insight into the dilemmas encountered while dealing with incoming reports, and the trends observed over the years.
