Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the situation of families of persons deprived of their liberty allows for consideration the difficulties faced by these families on a daily basis. These difficulties result mainly from the overlapping of social and economic problems that determine having adequate financial resources necessary to meet existential needs. The article presents the forms of assistance that the families of persons deprived of their liberty can count on from government administration and local govern- ment bodies. Statistics on the scope and forms of post-penitentiary assistance provided to convicts in penitentiary units, in connection with preparing them for life, are also shown in freedom condi- tions.
