Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the use of cognitive terminology involved in the description of various word-formation phenomena and, in particular, their cognitive and communicative aspects. The author notes the coexistence of numerous terms in Polish linguistic literature, such as: amalgamacja, blending, integracja pojęciowa, teoria integracji, teoria stapiania, teoria przestrzeni mentalnych etc., as well as konstruowanie (sceny), obrazowanie, profilowanie and konceptualizator, obserwator, subiekt mówiący, nadawca, which are used as inexact synonyms.
