Summary/Abstract: There is a lot written about hospitality, mostly in the context of gastronomy and hotel services. During the last years, we see that the concept of hospitality has made its entrance into a wider spectrum of different sectors and businesses, such as facility management in big companies, care and education. In this scoping review we focus on hospitality in education. The review is divided in three parts. In the first part, we go back in time and give an overview of different philosophical perspectives and interpretations of hospitality during the years. Secondly, we focus on the different dimensions and implementation of the concept of hospitality. The third part describes the trends and hospitality in the context of education and what this could mean for the relationship between teachers and pupils/students, the care for pupils and the school environment.
